The July 2026 PAWS newsletter welcomes two new rescued tigers, J.B. and Franklin, who are settling into spacious, natural habitats after years in barren cages, bringing the sanctuary’s rescued tiger population to nine. It also offers guidance on identifying legitimate wildlife sanctuaries—emphasizing that true sanctuaries do not breed, buy, sell, exploit, or allow public contact with wild animals—and celebrates elephant Prince’s 15th anniversary at PAWS, where he has lived since leaving the circus. In recognition of International Tiger Day, PAWS highlights the continuing exploitation of captive tigers and ways the public can help, while also promoting its upcoming International Captive Wildlife Conference in Sacramento, featuring experts on elephants, big cats, exotic pets, wildlife tourism, and other captive-animal welfare issues. The newsletter closes by highlighting the many ways supporters can help provide lifelong care for PAWS’ rescued elephants, tigers, bears, and other animals through donations, symbolic adoptions, and wish-list purchases.
