Meet
Nimmo

Nimmo, a tiger born into captivity, spent his early years at a roadside zoo that bred wild animals so they could sell photo and play sessions with their cubs. When the zoo shut down, more than 100 animals urgently needed placement. PAWS was one of several reputable sanctuaries to offer a lifelong care – welcoming eight tigers, including Nimmo, in 2017.

The 2022 passage of the Big Cat Public Safety Act marked an important turning point, banning public contact with big cat cubs in the U.S. Before this law, cubs were cruelly separated from their mothers shortly after birth, subjected to constant handling, and discarded once they grew too large to be handled.

Nimmo is one of three brothers rescued by PAWS. He shares a deep bond with his brother Wilhelm. While Wilhelm is more reserved, Nimmo is outgoing and curious about everything around him. The two tigers are full of energy, often playfully chasing each other and leaping in and out of their large pool. During the cooler winter months, despite having their own spaces, they like to snuggle up together, a reflection of their strong brotherly connection.
