Meet
Rosemary
Rosemary, a tiger born into captivity, spent his early years at a roadside zoo that bred wild animals so they could sell photo and play sessions with their cubs. When the zoo shut down, more than 100 animals urgently needed placement. PAWS was one of several reputable sanctuaries to offer a lifelong care – welcoming eight tigers, including Rosemary, in 2017.
The 2022 passage of the Big Cat Public Safety Act marked an important turning point, banning public contact with big cat cubs in the U.S. Before this law, cubs were cruelly separated from their mothers shortly after birth, subjected to constant handling, and discarded once they grew too large to be handled.
Rosemary may be the smallest tiger at PAWS, but she full of energy and personality. Feisty and spirited, she adores water and spends every possible moment in her pool. Rosemary is just as enthusiastic about meals as she is about splashing in her pool.
