Archer

Archer, a male bobcat, arrived at PAWS on September 7, 2025. Although his exact date of birth is unknown, he is believed to have been born around 2020.

He was one of several animals seized earlier this year from the Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Foundation in Butte County by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. This action was the result of a criminal investigation involving animal welfare violations of the California Fish and Game Code.

While we completed construction of a custom-built bobcat enclosure at our sanctuary, Archer was cared for at the Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue (SCWR) in Petaluma, California. We are grateful to SCWR for the excellent care they provided and to Flying Tails Animal Rescue for transporting Archer safely to his forever home at our sanctuary.

Archer now lives in a spacious, naturalistic habitat next door to female bobcat Rumi. He is very friendly and curious, purring loudly and rubbing against the fence when he sees his caregivers.

From the elevated platforms in his habitat, Archer enjoys expansive views of nature, with native trees, a nearby mountain, and clear blue skies.
