Meet
Pasha

Pasha, a male African lion born around 2015, was among more than 300 animals seized by Oregon authorities from the West Coast Game Park Safari, a roadside petting zoo that shut down after a lengthy criminal investigation into animal neglect. The other animals, mostly domesticated species, were rehomed in qualified facilities.

According to news reports, the facility had been cited 80 times in just two years for animal welfare violations. Investigators found empty food storage freezers, evidence that big cats were sporadically fed on donated scraps, and the body of a tiger stored in a freezer.

A tall and handsome lion, Pasha has a thick, luxurious mane that gives him a regal presence. He loves to brush his mane against the bushes and trees in his habitat, and he often rolls in the grass when caregivers approach, revealing his playful side.

Each day, Pasha greets the morning and salutes the setting sun with an impressive set of deep, resonant roars that echo across the sanctuary. He loves chasing his large, lion-proof ball down the grassy hills of his habitat, which features soft grass, shady oak trees, and a hilltop perch where he can take in the sights, sounds and scents of the natural world around him.
