Events program
Educational Events at PAWS
PAWS is not open to the public, except for a limited number of select educational events. This is to ensure the animals have the most natural, intrusion-free lives possible.
If you are interested in learning more about our events and educational guided tours, please contact Director of Programs Kim Gardner at 916-539-5305 or send an email to kimkleingardner@yahoo.com.
Special Programs
PAWS offers “Wild Animals in Captivity: Exploring the Interface Between Humans and Wildlife”, a unique educational program that delves into how captive environments shape public perceptions of wild animals and the resulting consequences for both wild and captive populations.

Through this immersive experience, students gain insight into the natural biology and behavior of the wild animals we care for at PAWS, while also examining the complex issues surrounding captive wildlife. As they are guided through the sanctuary, students discover the animals’ individual histories, learning how they came to PAWS and the challenges they faced prior to their rescue.
This program takes place on-site at the sanctuary. It is open to college professors and their classes only.
To schedule, contact Catherine Doyle, director of science, research and public policy, at cdoyle@pawsweb.org.
Virtual Education Presentations
PAWS offers virtual presentations about our sanctuary and work for captive wild animals to clubs, community groups, and elementary, high school, and college students. For more information, contact Catherine Doyle, director of science, research and public policy, at cdoyle@pawsweb.org.
